At October Wellness Counseling, we recognize that family transitions—such as separation, divorce, and co-parenting—can bring emotional, legal, and relational challenges. Our family mediation service is led by a licensed clinical social worker and accredited family mediator in Quebec, and is here to guide you through this process with compassion and structure.
What is Family Mediation?
Family mediation is a voluntary, confidential, and structured process in which a neutral and qualified professional helps individuals in conflict most often separating or divorcing parents—reach fair, child-centered, and lasting agreements. Topics commonly addressed include:
Empathetic and trauma informed: We offer a safe and respectful space where both parties feel heard and supported throughout each session.
Mental health-integrated approach:
With a background in clinical social work, we bring a deep understanding of the emotional impact of conflict and separation.
Recognized by the Quebec Ministry of Justice :
As an accredited mediator, our services are eligible for free sessions as part of the provincial mediation program.
In Quebec, the Ministry of Justice offers up to 5 hours of free family mediation for couples with dependent children (and up to 2.5 hours for revision of existing agreements). These hours are fully covered by the government, and no legal referral is required.
