Meet Fatima Awada, RSW, BSW, MSW

Clinical Social Worker | Mental Health Therapist | Founder of October Wellness Counseling

Hi, I’m Fatima—a licensed clinical social worker and mental health therapist with over five years of experience supporting individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds through emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. My practice is rooted in empathy, curiosity, cultural humility, and grounded realism.

With a master’s degree in international clinical social work, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on global mental health initiatives, addressing cross-cultural challenges and systemic barriers to care. My international mandate has shaped my therapeutic lens to be inclusive, anti-oppressive, and deeply attuned to the complex identities and lived experiences of my clients.

After six years of working across governmental, community-based, international, and private sector settings, it became clear—through consistent feedback from clients—that something about my therapeutic approach stood out. They often described feeling a strong sense of connection, safety, and understanding, noting that my style felt tangible and anchored in real life. That validation, along with my natural ability to build authentic therapeutic relationships, inspired me to launch October Wellness Counseling.

My practice is informed by proximity, validation, and a deep sensitivity to the realities people face today—whether it’s navigating transitions, emotional overwhelm, or systemic stress. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all; it’s personalized, human, and rooted in the here and now.

Our Therapeutic Values
Authenticity

We believe in meeting you where you are—with honesty, warmth, and real conversations that honor your lived experiences.

Safety & Trust

We prioritize emotional safety by creating a non-judgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and supported, especially in moments of vulnerability.

Collaboration

We work together. You are the expert of your own story, and therapy is a co-created process that respects your pace, preferences, and goals.

Empowerment

We strive to help you reconnect with your inner strengths, clarify your needs, and move forward with confidence and self-trust.

Cultural Humility

We practice with curiosity and openness, acknowledging the impact of culture, migration, language, and identity on your well-being.

Neurodiversity Affirmation

We celebrate and support all brains. We recognize that mental health is not one-size-fits-all and tailor our approach to respect neurodivergent needs.

Mind–Body Connection

We value the interconnectedness of emotional, mental, and physical health, incorporating tools that promote holistic well-being.

Sustainable Change

Our focus isn’t just on short-term relief—but on building insights, habits, and relational patterns that support long-term transformation.
